Sudden hearing loss can simply be described as an immediate drop or change in your hearing pattern for a period of time though not exceeding three days. Low salts, diuretics and antiviral treatment can also be used depending on the cause of the ailment.

However, there are other methods in which you can use to reduce or prevent this impairment. This can be by the use of hearing aids. With authority from a doctor, you can use ear muffs or ear plugs to aid in hearing though the main preventive measure is to be aware of the noise level around you. It is said that noise above 80 decibels is loud and should be turned down or regulated. If you use iPods and other media, turn down the voice for the sake of your ear. It is also good to visit audiologist annually to check the condition of your ears. You should also avoid putting anything in your ear such as liquids or cotton swabs. This can only be done under the recommendation of a doctor.
